Presents without a Presence

No. 11/100 100-word short stories for my 100 follower celebration!

It all started with a wrinkled sweater.

The brand new blue wool sat there unabashedly bundled in a heap on Teri’s doorstep. No wrapping, no note. She had to stare at it for a few seconds before realising what it was.

I’m going to be late to work, a voice in her head whispered. With a sigh, Teri left the sweater there for further inspection later on.

But later on brought only more confusion. A pristine coffee mug sat nestled in the sweater, offsetting the blue sweater with vibrant red patterns.

Who on earth would be leaving gifts like this?

. . .

I think the closest I’ve gotten to getting an unknown/surprise gift was when an Instant Pot arrived from Amazon on my doorstep…but it wasn’t for me or anyone I knew. When Amazon’s customer support told me to keep it, it felt like that unknown person had given me a gift!

Have you ever received an unexpected or surprise gift? Tell me about it in the comments!
