At the end of every blog post, I have a little message (actually two, but I’m talking about one in particular). If you’re surprised by that, I don’t blame you—you’re here to read the posts, and your time is valuable! But this little message is very important because it provides the link to subscribe to my newsletter A Novel Idea.
So…what’s so great about a newsletter? And how is it different than the blog?
My favourite difference? The newsletter is personal. On the blog I give you writing tips, but in the newsletter, I tell you the struggle I went through to discover that writing process. I share my writing ups and downs every month in the hopes that you’ll be encouraged as you go on this writing journey with me.
But that’s just the beginning! I also share insider looks of my upcoming works, book recommendations, memes, extra writing tips, answers to reader questions, and so much more! And you get to influence the content of the newsletter! I’m always shifting things around to give my subscribers the content they want to read. Otherwise, I’m just talking to air and that’s no fun.
I have lots of ideas for the newsletter’s future. A book club? A serial story told through email? Author interviews? Extra book giveaways?
But I need you to make all of this happen. As I said, talking to air is just depressing. My hope is that my newsletter crew will be a little writing community who learn from and encourage each other.
If you want to be a part of that—or if you just want some extra stuff that you can’t find on the blog—subscribe to A Novel Idea now! It’s just one email per month, and did I mention, you get a FREE writing guidebook as soon as you subscribe? You can even unsubscribe right afterward and you’ll still have the book.
One final thing: now’s your last chance to enter this week’s book giveaway, which ends tonight at 11:59 PM (EST)! If you want a free book, all you have to do is a leave a comment on this post and check back tomorrow to see the results.
I look forward to meeting you and going on this writing journey right beside you!
If you enjoyed this post, I hope you’ll consider donating to the blog, reading my stories on Vocal, and/or taking a look at my RedBubble shop so I can continue to produce free content!
Want to delve even further into the writing world? Subscribe to my monthly newsletter to get a FREE storytelling guidebook right off the bat, plus insider looks into my upcoming works, writing memes, book recs, and much more!

When you write as much as I do, you have to take frequent breaks from sitting. A standing desk (not a whole desk, but a mini desk that will sit on top of my current desk with my laptop, keyboard, and mouse and extend upward) will allow me to continue working while maintaining that good blood flow to my brain. Thank you so much for your support that allows me to keep producing free content. God bless you! ♥️ E.J.Donate
