Book Giveaways and Blog Updates: New Year Spectacular Part 1!

Happy New Year!

I’m so excited to begin this brand new year with all of you! After taking lots of time to consider my goals last month, I came up with an action-packed plan for 2023. I hope you’re ready, because this week is going to be filled with some spectacular announcements!

Book Giveaway

To kick off the week, I’m giving away one free ebook copy of each of my books! (The Drabbles of a Dreamer, Colours, and The Dragon’s Den.) To enter, all you have to do is comment on this post with one thing you’re looking forward to this year and let me know which of the three book giveaways you’d like to enter. (Want to know more about the books before you decide which one’s for you? Check out my published works page for more info!)

The giveaway ends on Thursday, January 5th, at 11:59 PM EST, so don’t wait! Enter now to get a totally free book and the winner will be announced on Friday!

Blog Updates

You might not notice many obvious changes on the blog, but my direction has shifted a bit. Through a great conversation I had with a friend recently (hi Gurt!), I realised that my true wish for this blog is to create a community of writers are more concerned about quality than quantity in storytelling, who long to see the media at large creating meaningful books, TV shows, and other stories again.

Today, all the big names creating fictional content are trying to pump so much stuff out into the world at once that quality keeps spiraling downward. This is even spreading into the book publishing world, where it seems you can’t make it anywhere anymore unless you publish hundreds of cheap steamy romance novels.

But I believe there’s still another way. People are hungry for quality stories, even if they don’t know it. Writers are eager to create stories that matter, even if they don’t know it. We need to make a stand for good storytelling – the kind with vibrant characters, meaningful themes, and so much heart that the story sticks with you forever. The kind of storytelling that reminds us why we tell stories in the first place.

I hope you’ll journey with me as we discover how to push quality stories in a world that prizes only “more.” My writing tips, stories, motivational posts, reblogs, and reviews – plus anything else – will all aim towards this goal of getting quality stories out into the world.

Let’s bring back meaningful storytelling! The next step is subscribing to my newsletter “A Novel Idea,” which you’ll receive only once a month. It’s packed with reflections on the craft of writing, book recommendations, memes, insider looks into my works, special giveaways and opportunities, and so much more! And the best part? You get a free book as soon as you subscribe!

Don’t miss out – the first newsletter of the year will be going out soon, and you’ll hear more about it later this week!

Happy writing!

If you enjoyed this post, I hope you’ll consider donating to the blog and/or reading my stories on Vocal so I can continue to produce free content!

Want to delve even further into the writing world? Subscribe to my monthly newsletter to get a FREE storytelling guidebook right off the bat, plus insider looks into my upcoming works, writing memes, book recs, and much more!

When you write as much as I do, you have to take frequent breaks from sitting. A standing desk (not a whole desk, but a mini desk that will sit on top of my current desk with my laptop, keyboard, and mouse and extend upward) will allow me to continue working while maintaining that good blood flow to my brain. Thank you so much for your support that allows me to keep producing free content. God bless you! ♥️ E.J.

  4. hello! I am a time-traveler who managed to create a time-machine and travel down the timeline to about 30 minutes before midnight on Thursday night! if you see a time stamp on this comment that indicates otherwise, kindly disregard it. there’s a glitch in my time-machine that makes this happen.

since I am a time-traveler and have already lived through 2023, I must say that one thing I *was* looking forward to before experiencing 2023 for the first time was going to college and (hopefully) meeting other young aspiring writers there!

if entries from time-travelers were accepted on this giveaway, I think I would enter to win all three books. 😛
