The joy of having finished a draft is one of writing’s great pleasures, yet to get there, you need to set – and find ways to keep – writing goals. Here are seven ideas to build accountability and ensure small wins keep rolling:

Writing Goals: Seven Ways to Ensure You Reach Them – Writers Helping Writers

As some of you know, I’m in a bit of a tight spot with my WIP, Project Pea.

I’ve never had a book actually fight me as I’ve tried to write it, but here we are. After every step forward, it feels like I take two steps back.

I was forced to come to the realisation that I can’t write this book the same way I’ve written others. Why? I’m not quite sure yet. But the important thing is that I’m adapting to this new writing process, a new mindset. And this article really helped to put things into perspective.

My writing process has been so solid for years that rethinking it has been hard! Thinking and reading about goal-setting has helped the transition immensely. After reading the above post and putting some of the suggestions into action, I’ve already had some small successes.

Whether you’re still figuring out your writing process or you’ve had the same one for a decade, this post will have something to teach you.

Happy writing!
-E.J.

When you write as much as I do, you have to take frequent breaks from sitting. A standing desk (not a whole desk, but a mini desk that will sit on top of my current desk with my laptop, keyboard, and mouse and extend upward) will allow me to continue working while maintaining that good blood flow to my brain. Thank you so much for your support that allows me to keep producing free content. God bless you! ♥️ E.J.
