Ancient: Short Story 21

No. 21/100 100-word short stories for my 100 follower celebration!

Dust rises in a small cloud as I run my fingertip gently down the smooth cover. I feel my finger dip as I reach the embossed title, its golden paint long faded away.

I let it sit abandoned for far too long, running from what I feared I’d find within the pages of this tattered tome. Now, it seems like it’s barely clinging on to life, struggling in vain to preserve itself against time—almost like a real person.

Finally, I wave the dust away and open the cover. The leather creaks with a gentle sigh.

And I begin reading.

Why do I ask for donations? This money all goes towards helping me pay for marketing, book services (editing, cover art, etc.), learning opportunities, and writing-related subscriptions that I have to purchase myself due to being an indie author and a blogger who posts tons of resources and stories for free. Every dollar counts! Thank you so much, and God bless you. ♥️ E.J.
