Prompt: Waking up elsewhere
Something tickles my toes.
As I slowly become aware of my senses, I realise that inhaling feels wrong. Or maybe it’s the air. Or both…
I almost doze off again, but then something touches my toes again. It’s wet.
I’m instantly awake, throwing off covers that aren’t there, knowing for certain that the culprit is that persistent leak in the ceiling.
But as I open my eyes, I see instantly that it’s not.
It’s a calm ocean under a purple sky – unrecognisable from the blue sky I know.
