Project Pea Update

Where have I been, you may ask? Writing a book, I will answer.

On December 1st, I finally began writing an idea for a book I’ve had for 4-5 years now. I’ve been calling it Project Pea—both because I want to keep the title a secret, and most likely my original title is going to change.

Today, I celebrated the completion of the first draft of Project Pea, clocking in at approximately 78,600 words. I’m really proud of how much I’ve written and how much I was able to flesh out the story from my original idea. As a “fly by the seat of my pants” writer, it’s been a fun journey to see how my ideas grew and changed as the story progressed! Funnily enough, I got to the end and was at a loss for how to end it. Then suddenly a great quote popped into my head and I wrote the final words with a big smile.

So now it’s onto the second draft, which will see some major changes to the plot and timing of the story. My main goals are to cut some of the first part of the book and heavily flesh out the second half. There’s still tons of work to be done, but it feels good to have a first draft out there.

So now, with my focus off madly writing the first draft of Project Pea, I’ll be trying to get back to some more blog posts. For now, stay safe, and enjoy the Christmas music!
